After years of reading reviews on Trip Advisor, I finally had a good enough reason to create an account and write one of my own. I just got back from a three day stay with my girlfriend at The Betsy in Miami, and the experience - across the board - was exceptional. I am, by my own admission, very difficult to please, and extremely discriminating when it comes to travel. Have had the privilege of staying at some amazing hotels/resorts across the world, from Four Seasons to Mandarin Orientals et al, and the Betsy is easily at home in this elite group. The rooms were beautiful and well-appointed, the staff was first class, and there wasn't a single misstep in any direction. From the manager of the hotel to the concierge to the front desk, doormen, cleaning staff, etc, it is every last employee's MISSION to make your stay as good as it humanly can be...a directive on which they all deliver with flying colors. There's a reason that its ranked #1. If you're looking for a classy spot in a great location offering you sanctuary from the "noise" of Miami (but within walking distance, should you seek it), then book a room here. It's a gem.

We stay here for a few days every year. "We" being myself, my wife, and twin 8 year old boys. The Betsy offers cleanliness, courteous service, and immediate access to the beach. Its close enough to the rambunctious part of Ocean Drive for the adults to have fun, but far enough away for the kids to be shielded. BLT is a great restaurant (for meat lovers) and the cocktails in the lobby are tasty and unique. The Betsy stands out for ts charm, sophistication, and quality.

We stayed at The Betsy in March, 2013. It was absolutely an amazing experience. We had stayed at hotels such as The W, South Beach before and we found that this was our most preferred hotel.
The hotel is very cool, yet very warm. That is a difficult balance to achieve. The staff is absolutely great. They cater to your needs right away and are very attentive.
The location is best there is. The hotel is at the edge of Ocean Drive, right at the heart of S. Beach. 3 blocks from Lincoln Avenue; on Ocean Drive, however not busy and loud. There is a big park right outside that makes it quieter.
The restaurant is very good. The seafood we had there was better than the one we had at Nobu.
Rooms are not big, but have everything you need.
Strongly recommend everyone to stay here.

Delicious eats at BLT, meeting over a drink in the lobby bar while listening to fantastic music and surrounded by fabulous artwork, or the luxury of having your private cabana type service on the beach is all what The Betsy is known for! While the rooms are typically small for a hotel of this vintage, it has been updated and brought current in a very fun and hip way. It is in a great location in the heart of South Beach with wonderful restaurant and bar. I especially enjoyed eating al fresco on the front patio while people watching.

We chose TheBetsy for our stay at South Beach based on the fact it is a member of the SLH (small luxury hotels) group. We have stayed at a few of these around the world and have always been impressed with the decor, ambiance and service. They must have very strict criteria for hotels to become a member, because they are all great!
We were not disappointed, our 5 night stay was divine. We were upgraded to a suite, so had plenty of room to spread out. The restaurant, BLT was excellent, great service, delicious food. Expensive unless you select their 4 course special, and then it becomes quite cheap relative to other restaurants in South Beach.
Location is right at the end of all the Art Dec buildings, but its classier than the rest. Definitely a cut above the rest. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Highly recommended!

From meeting Robert's smiling face at the door on arrival, to the courteous and friendly service at check-out, the staff at the Betsy are some of the best in the business... always pleased to help but never obtrusive or in the way.
We went with a family of 5 which is a bit of a squeeze in the small rooms, and a lot expensive if you have to take two rooms.
I recommend an ocean view room, apart from the every changing crazy SoBe landscape of exercise freaks, dolled-up couples, muscle-bound skateboarders and just plain weirdo's, the sea view seems to make the rooms much, much bigger.
Breakfast is one of the huge pleasures, outside on the sidewalk watching the world go by... great quality food and the expected good service.
Dinner at BLT, the resident "upscale" steakhouse is a treat. Perfect steak, good wines and huge, high quality sides... but at a price.
"At a price" sums up the Betsy, it is a bit like owning a Rolls Royce... if you have to ask how much the bills are, don't bother getting one! If you don't, relax and enjoy the ride!

The rooms and hotel were immaculate, the service was impeccable (Robert and the concierge were very helpful and friendly), and the location was perfect! After spending the day at the beach across yhe street, we would relax every afternoon on their incredible Roofdeck and order cocktails and a delicious chopped salad! 5 out of 5 stars review: We have just been lucky enough to have spent our honeymoon at The Betsy for the week, getting back today.
To start with the hotel is a touch of class, the decor is tastefully complete feels like somewhere special. The location is right next to a palm tree lined grass area that lies between the hotel and the beach. The hotel offers a beach bed service that is included in the price and was a nice ouch.
The staff were really polite and went out of their ways to help us have a great stay. Breakfasts each morning were spot on. The steaks in the evening were easily among the best I have ever had.
Our room faced the pooling the inside of the building and was on the 3rd floor. It was quiet and spacious, clean and very well maintained. The bed was amazing and the bed linen was top notch.
Really happy we chose it for our honeymoon, it delivered more than we expected. Thanks for a great week.

4 out of 5 star review: Arrived after long flight to Miami for a one night stop over en route Marco Island. Hotel is located by the beautiful beach and they provide beach towels, loungers and umbrella without charge. Hotel has a colonial feel inside and out with a bar restaurant area that reminds me of Ernest Hemmingway's favourite hotel in Havana. Staff were friendly, efficient and very helpful. They organised a hire car from our preferred renter without any problems. Restaurant dinner was excellent but pricey. Beware of the wines as you will struggle to buy one for less than 50 dollars. Didn't have breakfast as Starbucks was just over the road. We booked a standard room with pool view. Betsy is a Small Leading Hotels of the World hotel and as we are members we got a complimentary room upgrade to ocean view. Don't expect a fantastic view as it is obscured by many palm trees and the windows don't open. The room was small and crowded with two queen beds and was in need of redecorating. Not bad but not perfect. Bathroom was fresh classy and modern. A nice hotel but I wouldn't rush back to it.

We stayed at the Betsy and it was the perfect end to our time in the US. Our room was gorgeous, well laid out with probably the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in!
We didn't leave the hotel much, just made the most of the facilities - ate several great meals at BLT, cooled off in the pool, entertained with cocktails on the roof top deck and snuggled up to watch a movie!
One thing that really stands out here is the service. Impeccable, friendly, personal service at every turn. We really felt so welcome and looked after, this really was the cherry on top of a perfect hotel experience.
If you are staying in Miami, this is THE place to stay!
Room Tip: If our room is anything to go on, I am sure they will all be lovely!

5 out of 5 star rating: We stayed here for three nights and found it to be an excellent spot on Ocean Drive. The staff are very helpful and accommodating and email several times before you arrive to see if they can assist you in booking tours or restaurants.
The rooms are light and airy, but not overly large. We would stay here again, because it is a small hotel offering personal service, which we prefer to the larger more impersonal ones around the area.
We could see Miami Beach from our room which was great, and although it was noisy on the Saturday night until the early hours, Sunday and Monday were much quieter... But it IS Ocean Drive after all ...!!!

We stayed at the Betsy for 3 nights in an Ocean view room above the main entrance, so overlooking the beach/ocean.
The room is compact (well, it is Ocean Drive) but was very nicely furnished: shutters, ceiling fan, tv and ipod dock, and an enormous bed. Very comfortable, and clean.
The bathroom was similarly compact but had all we needed and the walk in shower was nice. I can take or leave having a tv screen in the bathroom mirror! The in-room toiletries were nice.
The rooftop garden is well worth a visit to read, relax and just chill out watching the ships go by in the distance. Lots of loungers and seats to use. Watch out for the bar prices - ouch!
Location is great. At the top end of Ocean Drive so you have direct access to the beach / boardwalk and the rest of Ocean Drive itself. Within minutes you can walk to Collins/Washington and to the Lincoln Mall, so there's plenty of options for sightseeing, restaurants, bars etc.
We used the restaurant once for dinner. The service was typically American (servers who like to chat their way through their shift - this is not a criticism, rather an observation. We saw the same in supermarkets, department stores and elsewhere), and was a little on the casual / slow side. However, they were polite, knew the menu inside out and were able to answer our questions. The food was also very good.
Other staff at the hotel were also very helpful - we made a small amendment to our booking at check-in without any issues whatsoever.
I would also recommend joining the SLH Club before booking as you can qualify for an upgrade or special offers.
We didn't use the pool (preferred the beach) and the courtyard looked very quiet anytime we were passing by but the pool area looked very clean and tidy.
Would definitely recommend hotel.

What a lovely boutique hotel!! We stayed at the Betsy for three nights this past week and loved it.
It's a beautiful beach front hotel located in the famous architectural district of Miami. At first sight the rooms appear small and cramped but once you settle in you realize that there is plenty of space in the room. The rooms are beautifully designed with lots of closet space. The decor is all white with a touch of color like green or orange. Everything is color coordinated and very comfortable.
I loved the attention to detail in the room. It was very well planned and comfortable. The best part was the small personal In-Room Library with autographed books by major writers. In fact the hotel is so committed to Arts and philanthropy that they have a separate writer's room.
The marble bathrooms are well stocked with (MALIN+GOETZ) luxury apothecary bath amenities.
The hotel itself if small but very cozy and well maintained. The staff is excellent! I'd like to give a shout-out to Paul from the concierge who was excellent and helped us with various dining reservations. Thank you Paul! The housekeeping was very helpful and prompt too. They did provide us with extra slippers, toothpaste and bandage when needed.
The hotel itself has a lovely roof deck facing the Atlantic ocean. One can enjoy the beautiful sunset stretched on a chaise lounge. They do have a private pool and a spa for pure relaxation. The hotel is located beachfront on Ocean Drive at 14th Street and offers beach attendant service to provide chairs and umbrellas. If you are a guest at the hotel you get 2 chairs and an umbrella on the beach for free.
Thursday evenings they have live music in the lounge. We sipped some wine and enjoyed a game of chess while listening to the band.
The BLT steak is an excellent restaurant at the hotel. We dined three times on separate occasions. The Brunch was delicious. They have the biggest French toast I have ever eaten. It's HUGE and delicious! All the meals were scrumptious and left us very happy and content.
My favorite part about this hotel are the wonderful black and white photographs of the Beatles band. Adorning the walls of the hotel are these lovely photographs of the band taken in their early years. They are simply beautiful and add a special touch!
I am very satisfied with my stay at the hotel and will highly recommend it. Needless to say I will come back for more!!
