The Betsy is the home of SWWIM - SUPPORTING WOMEN WRITERS IN MIAMI - and collaboratively hosts 8 poetry readings and residencies annually.

Supporting Women Writers in Miami (SWWIM)

SWWIM publishes, promotes, and celebrates women writers, trans and cis women, nonbinary, intersex, and other gender-expansive communities, with a year-round reading series held at The Betsy-South Beach in Miami Beach, FL and the online poetry journal SWWIM Every Day. Together, SWWIM and The Betsy have presented almost 50 poetry readings.

FEATURED POETS

Heidi Seaborn is a poet, essayist, and editor. She’s the author of An Insomniac’s Slumber Party with Marilyn Monroe (winner of the PANK Poetry Prize, 2021) Give a Girl Chaos (C&R Press, 2019), Bite Marks (Comstock Review Chapbook Award, 2021) and Once a Diva (dancing girl press, 2021). Recent work in Beloit Poetry Journal, Copper Nickel, Cortland Review, the Financial Times of London, Iron Horse Review, Missouri Review, The Offing, The Slowdown, SWWIM and the Washington Post. Heidi is Executive Editor of The Adroit Journal and holds an MFA in Poetry from NYU. She’s currently working on a memoir about her twenties in Silicon Valley, Upstart, and a third collection of poetry. heidiseabornpoet.com

Heidi Seaborn is a visiting writer in The Betsy Writers Room in partnership with SWWIM.

Ana Maria Caballero is a first-generation Colombian-American poet. Her work has won multiple awards, including the Beverly International Prize and Colombia’s José Manuel Arango Poetry Prize. She’s been a finalist for the Academy of American Poets Prize, Ploughshares’ Emerging Writer’s Contest, and the Essay Press Book Prize, among others. Her poems-as-digital-art were shown at Dreamverse 2021 and were awarded a Sevens Foundation Grant. anamariacaballero.com
