Supporting Women Writers in Miami (SWWIM)

SWWIM (Supporting Women Writers in Miami) was co-founded by Jen Karetnick and Catherine Esposito Prescott. SWWIM publishes, promotes, and celebrates women writers, trans and cis women, nonbinary, intersex, and other gender-expansive communities, with a year-round reading series held at The Betsy-South Beach in Miami Beach, FL and the online poetry journal SWWIM Every Day. Together, SWWIM and The Betsy have presented almost 50 poetry readings.
S. Erin Batiste is an interdisciplinary poet and author of the chapbook, Glory to All Fleeting Things. Additionally, she has received fellowships and generous support from PERIPLUS, Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, Rona Jaffe Foundation, Poets & Writers +Reese's Book Club's The Readership, Barbara Deming Memorial Fund, Cave Canem, and Callaloo. Batiste is a reader for The Rumpus and her own Pushcart, Best New Poets, and Best of the Net nominated work has exhibited in New York, is anthologized and appear internationally in Magma, Michigan Quarterly Review, and wildness among other decorated journals.

Michael A. de Armas recently graduated from the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College and her manuscript in progress, Beautiful Girl, Ancient Thief, was just awarded an Honorable Mention by The Miami Book Fair Emerging Writers Fellowship. Her work has appeared in Written Here, the poetry journal of the Community of Writers. She lives in Coconut Grove, Florida with her husband and their two daughters.
