10:30 am - 12 noon

As part of their Culture Break Artist Talks, The Betsy – South Beach presents a new series, The Art of Book Making, for their 2017-18 Season. Talks in the series include:

  • History & Global Perspectives
  • Publisher Perspectives
  • Editor Perspectives

Ibi Zoboi Writing Workshop

The Betsy Writer's Room, in partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Library System, presented Ibi Zoboi for The Daughters of Anacaona Writing Workshop.
October 7, 2017 at 2:30 pm
Little Haiti Cultural Center
212 NE 59th Terrace, Miami FL 33137
The Daughters of Anacaona Writing Project aims to foster creative expression, self-esteem, sisterhood, community service, cultural awareness, social activism, and leadership all within a safe space. By creating two mirroring programs in both Haiti and the U.S., participating girls will gain a deeper understanding of the Haitian Diaspora and the many challenges that teen girls face in either a poverty-stricken country recently ravaged by an earthquake, or a bustling cosmopolitan city oftentimes plagued with crime and violence. Through a pen pal exchange program, a Haitian girl and a Haitian-American, Caribbean, or African-American girl will share their differences and similarities and will hopefully form a bond that will encourage each of them to carry the lessons learned into their adult lives.
For more information, contact Jean at The Betsy - South Beach.
