Event Details

All Jazz performances from April 1 thru May 1, 2022 are presented as part of The Betsy’s 10th Annual Overture to Overtown Jazz Festival. 

Please note that Sunday evening performances are presented on the Ocean Drive Promenade, between 14th Street and 14th Place (in front of The Betsy Hotel) in partnership with the City of Miami Beach and the Ocean Drive Association.  No RSVP is needed.

Danny MIXON – Piano - Danny Mixon is known worldwide as a piano jazz virtuoso. He has worked with such legendary performers as Lionel Hampton, Joe Williams, and Frank Foster and continues to be in Frank Foster’s Loud Minority Big Band and his Non-Electric Company. He has also performed, toured and/or recorded with Yusef Lateef, Hank Crawford, Savion Glover, Pharoah Sanders, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Stanley Turrentine, Gene Ammons, Eubie Blake, Noel Pointer, Jimmy Witherspoon, Grant Green, Eddie Jefferson, Charles McPherson, Marlena Shaw, Irene Reid, Houston Person, Dakota Staton, Ben Vereen, Leon Tomas, Chaka Khan, Cassandra Wilson, Lou Rawls, Gloria Lynne, Lisle Atkinson, Oscar Brown, Jr., John Hendricks, Pucho and the Latin Soul Brothers, Earl May, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Kenny Dorham and many others. 

Carole Ann TAYLOR - Vocals - got her feet wet as a young singer with great legacy jazz artists like Duke Ellington and Lionel Hampton. Carole Ann opened up Little Havana’s first souvenir shop, and later shops in other sites including Miami International Airport. She is an active member of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), and maintains her involvement in civic affairs, serving as a board member of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Chair of the Multicultural Tourism Committee of the GMCVB (and as a member of its Executive Board), WDNA Jazz Radio and Viernes Culturales.  @miamitogo
