Jose Elias and Cortadito: Buena Vista Club Memories

Jose Elias leads CORTADITO.  From Son Montuno, Guaracha, Boleros, Nengon, and Bolero Son, his dynamic ensemble brings the listener back to a time when Trio Matamoros, or Ignacio Piniero ruled the Cuban music world.  The era when popular music was Cuban Music and Son Montuno was influencing music throughout the globe. From time to time, Cortadito is backed by a variety of guest musicians, which gives the group a sound reminiscent of the Buena Vista Social Club.

Jose Elias has been a professional musician for the past 28 years and has produced a variety of musical projects from festivals to studio recordings. His career has been highlighted by his work with Conjunto Progreso (1999-2012) with the noted album Masters of Cuban Son that was nominated for a Grammy award under the category of tropical/traditional Latin album. Currently Jose is also  the lead guitar player for the Spam Allstars.
