Miami Beach Classical Music Festival (MCMF) and The Betsy Hotel presents a Zarzuela pop-up of Spanish-language theatrical songs and duets on the front terrace of The Betsy Hotel.

Miami Beach Classical Music Festival (MCMF) and The Betsy Hotel presents a Zarzuela pop-up of Spanish-language theatrical songs and duets on the front terrace of The Betsy Hotel.

Other presenting sponsors are the City of Miami Beach, Miami Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, Ocean Drive Association, and The Betsy's 7 th Annual Escribe Aqui/Write Here project — carried out with support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation,  Miami New Drama, and Suburbano Ediciones.

Patrons may choose to watch the event from a table at LT Steak and Seafood when they order dinner, or from the sidewalk in front of The Betsy Hotel. There is no cover charge for this event.

Megan Barrera – Soprano
Cuban-Puerto Rican soprano Megan Barrera is a native of Miami and is an active performer of both opera and concert repertoire.

In 2019, Ms. Barrera was the second prize winner of the Gabriela Beňačková International Vocal Competition in the Czech Republic. In 2018, Ms. Barrera was the first prize winner of the Certamen Nuevas Voces Ciudad de Sevilla in Spain.

Gerardo Ortega – Tenor
Gerardo Ortega received his Bachelor’s in Vocal Performance from the University of Florida at New World School of the Arts. His most recent stage credits include performing “a fervent Lysander with a ringing tenor” (South Florida Classical Review) in Britten’s A Midsummer Night's Dream with the Miami Music Festival; Danilo in Léhar’s The Merry Widow with the Barry Opera Theatre; and “a charming and compelling Nemorino” (El Nuevo Herald) in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore with the New World Opera Theatre.
