BETAN & BERNER

Original guitarist, singer, and songwriter, PETER BETAN, has opened shows for a slew of musical icons like Bob Dylan, Styx, and Richie Havens among others. Peter has done extensive performance work in corporate, museum, wedding, and networking events. Peter Betan blends elements of Jazz, Folk, Pop, and World music into a unique acoustical richly textured, melodic, and rhythmic musical style.

East is East and West is West, and… they have met in MARC BERNER's flute. Berner is a master Shakulutist, the Shakulute being a western silver flute played with a Shakuhachi head-joint. A what? You've all seen and heard the shakuhachi, of course. It is the haunting, breathy, dramatic, Japanese bamboo flute that dates back to ancient Egypt. The bamboo head joint gives the western flute a shakuhachi-like timbre, producing a brand-new sound. Berner doesn’t just play the Shakulute---he plays the alto Shakulute. He was the first alto Shakulutist in human history and as you would expect, the lower register is rich, deep, and mellifluous. Berner was featured in concert with Shakuhachi Grand Master Kozan Tanifuji in Hokkaido, Japan in 2006, and in 2010 performed at The Ichimura Miami Japanese Garden in Florida.

Expect no more. This is happiness.™
